Self portrait, 2023

Patrick Hudepohl (1974, The Netherlands) was fascinated by an image appearing on paper when his father was printing in the dark room. It was like magic, especially at a young age. Soon after that, his parents bought a Commodore 64 computer, which proved even more interesting. As a result, Patrick decided to study computer science, obtaining an MSc from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and worked in IT for 25 years.

Still, photography has always held his interest as a hobby and he took several courses at Fotogram (Amsterdam) from 2009 - 2012. In 2019 Patrick decided to pursue photography and enrolled at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam, later switching to Studio 307. Supervised by photographers Milan Gies and Sarah Mei Herman, he works on personal long-term projects, discovering his identity as a photographer. Feedback from fellow students is particularly valuable as well during this process.

Patrick lives and works in Beverwijk, near the Dutch coast. When not taking pictures, he enjoys walking as well as sailing his boat on the nearby Uitgeestermeer. From 2009 onwards, he has been a volunteer for SailWise, sharing his passion for sailing with people with a disability.
